Ambidextrous God: A Mighty Man of War & the Prince of Peace

I am a God of Peace

My right hand fights war,

My left hand holds peace,

I do not use one more than the other

I AM Ambidextrous

I use both hands equally.”

Those are the words my Father God spoke to me during one the fiercest battle for which He gave our church great victory in the summer of 2013.

So God is not an “Unarmed God” but He is a Mighty Man of War who even gave us as His children the FULL ARMOR OF GOD (Ephesians 6) so that we can fight our battles and triumph over the evil one.

Jesus is not wholly a gentle Christ. Gentleness is one of His side, for our Lord is like a beautiful diamond gem who has different side of Himself. According to Revelation, Christ is both the Lion and the Lamb. John was told, “Stop weeping; behold, the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals.” (Revelation 5). Throughout the Bible, the same Lord who is repeatedly called the “God of peace” (Romans ) is also unapologetically declared “a man of war” and “the LORD of hosts” (Exodus 15:3; 1 Samuel ; Isaiah 6:3), the divine Warrior-King whose “right hand” is the very symbol of triumphant power in battle (Exodus 15:6—“Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power; your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy”; Psalm 118:15-16).

This is no contradiction but the glorious ambidexterity of a sovereign God who wields both mercy and justice with equal skill: Isaiah 9:6 hails the coming Messiah as both “Prince of Peace” and “Mighty God” (El Gibbor—the Warrior-God), while Isaiah pictures the Lord marching forth “like a warrior” and stirring up His zeal for battle, and Psalm 24:8 exults in “the LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.”

Even Jesus Himself, the incarnate Word, declares in Matthew , “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword,” and Revelation -16 portrays the returning Christ as the rider on the white horse whose mouth wields a sharp sword to strike down the nations—yet the same Jesus who wept over Jerusalem, blessed the peacemakers (Matthew 5:9), and commanded Peter to sheath his sword (John ) also drove out the money-changers with righteous zeal.

The left hand of peace is never idle, for “the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7), and the right hand of war stands ever ready to defend justice, crush evil, and deliver His people, as David confessed before Goliath: “I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel” (1 Samuel ).

In this divine equilibrium, we see the fullness of Christ, neither pacifist abstraction nor warmonger, but the perfectly balanced King whose right and left hands move in flawless unity for the redemption of the world.
