Gain New Strength

Updated: Jan 18, 2023

Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. (Isaiah 40:31) In this article, we share a few tips to help you gain strength and energy needed to do what God has called you to do.

In order to do what God has called you to do, you need strength to do it. For example, there are set times for corporate prayer and there are time set for individual prayer [Everyone, it is better to have a set time when you meet with God in prayer not randomly. That set time is your appointment with God]; but as that time comes, some of you might have found yourself weak, sleepy and weary not motivated to do it at all.

Why is it when people are on their phone they are more awake but when it comes to the things of God, there are struggles? That when the time to read the Bible they fall asleep? You yourself might have experienced sleeplessness right before or during prayer or reading time.

Satan will do everything he can to distract because he knows that every time you spend in the presence of God with undistracted devotion, it is already a tremendous loss in the kingdom of darkness. So there will be opposition as you seek to do the things of God. Satan does not let you come easily in the presence of God, often times there is a price to pay, even some times, the moment we spend with God we have to fight for it.

No matter how tired or weary you might feel, do not miss your appointment with God (set time to pray, worship or seek the Lord); even if you are tired, just show up, God will help you to gain new strength. Often times, our prayer warriors have shared how tired and sleepy they were but the moment we begin to worship and pray, new strength is always given, 100%!

Where Do You Get Energy?

1. You get energy when you worship God

2. You get energy when you pray and spend time with God (Isaiah 40:31)

For those who struggle with drowsiness when you read the word, before you start reading, make it a habit as much as you can to first worship God. Sing unto the Lord. Holy dance, worship the Father in spirit and in truth. That will wake you up and give you new energy. The prayers done while you are dozing off are weak prayer, they are probably too weak to make it to the throne of God and they won’t accomplish much. The word you read while dozing of and on does not profit you much. So before reading the word, begin with worship. If you cannot understand a thing when you read the word, make it a habit to read it out loud or read it while speaking in tongues.

3. We get our energy from the food, so we must eat well and healthy

4. We get energy from exercising

5. We also get energy from using the energy we already have and putting it to work. The more energy we use, the more we get.

6. Rest is a must 7. Rejoicing in the Lord

And there are many more ways to get more energy…

Beware of Wasting Your Energy

But even if you have rested and have eaten well, worked out etc… there are times you might find yourself too weak to read the Bible, no motivation for going to prayer and worship. And when you start reading, even if you have rested you start falling asleep or you retain nothing of what you read.

The reason why this mostly happens is because of wasting time doing worthless things throughout the day, worthless things we should not do. And by the time you get to reading or to pray, there is not much energy left. When you spend much time distracted by your phone, internet and those other things, they suck your energy out and by the time you finish to get to prayer, there is no strength left; you find yourself falling asleep or not having a desire to do it. This is because of wasting your time and energy on what is less important. Time is money. So use your time wisely. It is very valuable thing and there is no way to restore the time wasted.

Jesus told Martha, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; but only one thing is necessary; for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42

Jesus also said, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

God must be first. This is why it is also important to seek the Lord early in the morning. “O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water. Thus I have seen You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory.” Psalm 63:1

When you wake up early and seek the Lord first, your day will be successful and you will get a lot done.

In the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and was praying there.” Mark 1:35
